Ephesians 2:10 “ For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
One of the core questions man asks himself, is Why am I here? At some stage we will all ask ourselves that question. We ALL have a life purpose. God did not create one of us without a purpose.
For me I was always searching. My searching led me up all the wrong roads as I was searching for something greater than myself. I searched in drugs, music, the occult, new age practices, man and more. No matter how hard I tried I always came up empty. The day I gave my life to the Lord everything changed.
I began to search deep within myself to try and find my life purpose. I first had to go through a good lot of deliverance and inner healing. The Lord had to heal me and mature me. I don’t believe the Lord will give you all the answers at once. It is like a connect the dots drawing. All through your life God has been giving you clues as to what your life purpose is. It may be something you are naturally good at or there may be certain things that you are drawn to.
God can speak to us in many ways. Through a friend, the word, a Pastor, a sermon, a dream, a vision or a prophetic word. God can also use unbelievers. He will go out of His way to get your attention and draw you towards your destiny. God can also speak to us through our circumstances. Sometime we get too comfortable to move, so God will make our circumstances uncomfortable to force us to move. God will never leave you without answers for your life. He is constantly working behind the scenes to make your dreams come to pass.
Ask yourself, what am I drawn to?
What type of teachings/speakers am I drawn to?
What am I good at?
What do other people say I’m good at?
What are my passions?
What lights a spark in you?
If money weren’t an issue, what would you do?
What would you do if you could not fail?
What would you do if you had no fears?
You can also ask yourself, what makes you angry? Starving children, an uncured disease? These questions mark strong starting points to discovering your passions, which is connected to your purpose.
Your life purpose is usually worked out over time. There is a difference between destiny and calling. A destiny is where you are destined to go, a calling is WHAT YOU WANT TO DO. Ask yourself, what do I want to do.
It is the Lord who puts those desires in your heart and even if it seems impossible right now, in due time He will bring it to pass. This will require patience, faith and perseverance. The Lord first has to do a work IN you so that He can do a work THROUGH you. Don’t be afraid to ask the Lord to reveal your life purpose to you. Perhaps you are afraid that He will give you something that you don’t enjoy. I know I was scared of that. Just like an earthly father won’t give a 3 year old child a motor bike, so the Lord will too not give you what you are not ready for. God is a loving Father, how much more does He not know how to give good gifts to His children.
You can ask the Father to reveal to you what He had in mind for you right at the very beginning because the word says that we existed in Him before the foundation of the earth. All your days are recorded in a book. You can ask the Lord to reveal to you what is written in that book.
Psalm 139:16 "Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."
Sometimes you will go through seasons when God seems to be quiet. Rest assured it is at times like this that He is patiently working things out for your good.
It is good to write your vision down. There seems to be a power in this .
Habbakuk 2: 2,3 says “Write the vision down and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the vision awaits an appointed time ; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it. It will certainly come and not delay.
If God gives you the vision He will also give you the provision.
I have always been drawn to the prophetic. Before I was saved I was taken up with new age practices because I was drawn to how a person could know things about someone else that no one had told them. I didn’t realise at the time that this was satan’s counterfeit of a word of knowledge.
I would always marvel at how people could hear from God within the church and how life changing a prophetic word could be. I just never realised I could have it for myself. My prophetic call took from 1999 to 2014 of seeking the Lord for my life purpose. In 2014 the Lord started putting a strong desire in me to prophesy and I did all I could to make this happen. I prayed, I fasted , I listened to teachings on the prophetic, I read books and took up courses. From my very first assignment I was able to prophecy. I went on to be the guest prophetic speaker for Father’s Heart Ministry for a year and a half. I then started my own ministry. All this time I was still unsure whether I had the gift of prophecy or whether I was a prophet.
It was only after the Father took me up in the spirit and ordained me as a prophet that I knew for sure I was a prophet.
I want to encourage you not to give up. God has a plan for us all.
Jeremiah 29:11 says: “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. “
